| Den berühmten "Inka-Trail" nach Machu Picchu muss man schon Monate vorher buchen. Das kam für mich nicht in Frage, weil ich mich nicht schon so lange vorher auf einen Zeitpunkt festlegen wollte. Ausserdem ist er anscheinend ziemlich überlaufen. Daher habe ich mich nach Alternativen umgeschaut. Am meisten hat mich dabei der Salkantay-Trek interessiert, der auch am Ende nach Machu Picchu führt. Dieser Trek dauert einen Tag länger als der "Inka-Trail", ist bergtechnisch schöner, und es ist viel weniger los. Ausser unserer 5er-Gruppe war nur noch eine grosse 20er-Gruppe unterwegs. Machu Picchu selbst ist natürlich auch sehr überlaufen, aber man kann schon ruhigere Stellen finden, wenn man etwas sucht! Es war wieder ein Ort, der sich trotz der Menschenmassen lohnt (wie Iguacu)! |
| The famous "Inca-trail" has to be booked months in advance. That was out of the question for me, because I didn't want to fix myself to a timeframe so long in advance. Besides, I've heard that this trail is very crowded. So I had to look for some alternatives. The most interesting option for me was the Salkantay trek, which also leads to Machu Picchu in the end. This trek takes one day longer than the "Inca-trail", it's more mountainous, and certainly less crowded. Besides our group of 5, there was only one other big group of 20 on the trail. Machu Picchu of course is very crowded, but it's possible to find some quieter spots. It was again a place worth visiting, despites the crowds (like Iguacu)! |
