| Danach wollte ich unbedingt ans Südende der Carretera Austral gelangen. Dort müsste man zwar von Chalten aus einen ziemlichen Umweg über Chile Chico fahren, aber es gibt einen Grenzübergang, der noch relativ unbekannt ist, auf dem man direkt nach Villa O'Higgins kommt! Der einzige Knackpunkt ist, dass bei diesem Übergang 26 km Fussmarsch dabei sind. Mein Reisegepäck war eigentlich nicht dafür ausgelegt, ich hatte 2 Rucksäcke mit insgesamt 32 kg dabei, und hab bei Trekking-Touren normalerweise den kleinen Rucksack in einer Unterkunft deponiert. Diesmal musste ich alles mitschleppen, aber ich habs hinter mich gebracht! Und es hat sich gelohnt, ich hab ein paar Tage Zeit gespart, und der Übergang war sicher auch einsamer und landschaftlich schöner als die Standard-Route! Das Südende der Carretera Austral ist sehr schön und abgelegen! Das Fischerdorf Tortel hat mir auch gut gefallen. Es liegt direkt an einem Pazifik-Fjord, und hat keine richtigen Strassen, nur Pfahlwege. |
| My next destination was supposed to be the southern end of the Carretera Austral. Normally, it's necessary to make a big detour via Chile Chico to get there, but there's a small border crossing, which is not largely known yet. It's possible to get to Villa O'Higgins directly there! The only challenge: it includes 26 kms of hiking, with full gear! Normally I deposited quite a bit of my luggage in a hostel, when I was doing a trek. I had 2 backpacks with altogether 32 kgs with me, and usually I deposited my small backpack somewhere in the next city. That was not possible this time, but I survived it! And it was worth it, because I saved a couple of days, and I guess the scenery was also more beautiful than on the standard route. The southern end of the Carretera Austral is very beautiful and remote! I also liked the small fishing village Tortel. It's located next to a Pacific fjord, and has no normal roads, just pile tracks. |
